Agentic Workplace for Insurance

Insurance Industry Challenges

Insurance companies face uncertainty as markets, products, customer demographics, and risks evolve, making historical models less reliable. To meet customer expectations, insurers must become more agile and productive, but struggle due to reliance on unstructured data, manual processes, legacy systems, and strict regulations. Although they have extensive data, many lack real-time insights, advanced analytics, and adaptive models, limiting the effectiveness of theirdecision-making.

Empowering Insurers to Innovate, Adapt, with Agentic AI

Advances in Agentic AI present insurers with new opportunities to tackle challenges and respond to market demands with greater agility. By leveraging Agentic AI, business processes can be externalized from legacy systems and intelligently directed among humans, AI agents, and other systems, enabling enhanced flexibility and rapid adaptation.

Autonomous insights agents efficiently handle unstructured data, gather third-party information, improve overall data quality, and produce real-time insights by integrating multiple sources. These embedded, autonomous insights empower underwriters and claims adjusters to make informed decisions swiftly, eliminating unnecessary time spent on data collection and preparation.

With a generative user interface, underwriters and claims adjusters engage directly with data—enabling deeper understanding, experimentation with 'what-if' scenarios, and more accurate predictions. This approach frees them from the constraints of static dashboards.

Emergent open standard protocol (MCP) designed to connect AI models (like LLMs) with external tools, data sources, and services in a structured way.

A wide array of AI productivity tools is now available and can be tailored by insurance staff to boost daily efficiency. For instance, a ‘claims letter writing’ tool assists adjusters in composing empathetic, highly personalized communications for claimants.

NTT DATA Agentic AI Workplace platform (Sugoi AI)

Centralized Orchestration for Insurance Operations

Comprehensive Platform Integration

Powered by Azure AI Foundry, Sugoi AI serves as a centralized orchestration platform that intelligently coordinates business workflows among humans, AI agents, and insurance systems. The platform offers a marketplace of pre-built agents developed by NTT DATA and its InsureTech partners and features an open architecture that enables seamless integration of these marketplace agents into operational workflows. Additionally, Sugoi AI includes a library of pre-built MCP and API adaptors, facilitating integration with insurance systems such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce, and various third-party data and service providers.

Advanced AI Agents with Insurance Expertise

Sugoi AI is built on an insurance-specific multi-agent AI engine, equipping its agents not only to execute tasks efficiently but also to engage in sophisticated reasoning through persistent memory and iterative logic. These agents are proficient in understanding the nuances of insurance language by leveraging an in-built insurance ontology and fine-tuned small language models. They employ a ‘chain of evidence’ approach to enhance reliability, and consistently adhere to established guardrails, security and data privacy requirements, as well as comprehensive governance controls throughout the lifecycle.

Empowering Decision-Making with AI Mode Applications

For critical business decisions, the Sugoi AI platform provides 'AI Mode' applications, enabling underwriters and claims adjusters to interact directly with data and access advanced analytical insights. The AI engine proactively alerts users to key data points that require attention and offers guidance on optimal next steps. These intelligent data products are constructed using the Microsoft Fabric platform and agentic data pipelines, ensuring robust and scalable data management.

Balancing Productivity with Human Oversight

Business processes within Sugoi AI are structured to drive exponential productivity gains through the use of AI agents, while maintaining human oversight to ensure stability, explainability, and compliance at all stages of operation. By blending automation with human oversight, our solution ensures efficiency without compromising trust—delivering smarter operations, personalized experiences, and responsible innovation for the future of insurance.
